Job Developer - Youth Over Us, Inc.

Position Overview:

The Job Developer will play a pivotal role in the Youth Over Us program by securing employment opportunities for participants and supporting their career development. This position demands a strong understanding of workforce development, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to empowering at-risk youth. The Job Developer will establish and maintain robust relationships with employers, ensuring a continuous pipeline of job opportunities for program participants. Additionally, the Job Developer will manage the program’s website updates, marketing efforts, and social media presence to enhance program visibility and engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and establish relationships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations to develop job opportunities for program participants.
  • Conduct targeted outreach to employers to promote the benefits of hiring Youth Over Us participants through presentations, meetings, and regular communications.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with employers to understand their workforce needs and ensure participants are matched with suitable job openings.

Participant Support:

  • Provide comprehensive support to participants in developing job search skills, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job application processes.
  • Conduct individual and group training, workshops, and career counseling sessions to assist participants in identifying career goals and creating actionable employment plans.
  • Offer continuous support during the job placement process and post-employment to ensure job retention and participant success.

Job Development:

  • Research and identify job openings, internships, and apprenticeship opportunities that align with participants’ skills and interests.
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date database of job opportunities and employer contacts.
  • Coordinate and facilitate job fairs, employer panels, and networking events to connect participants with potential employers.

Program Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with program staff, including case managers, instructors, and mentors, to ensure a holistic approach to participant development and employment readiness.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to developing strategies to enhance program outcomes.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to program staff on participant progress and areas for improvement.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure strict compliance with all program regulations, policies, and procedures related to employment services.
    • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of employer contacts, job placements, and participant progress.
    • Prepare and submit regular, detailed reports on job development activities and outcomes to program management and funders

Digital Marketing and Communication:

  • Manage and update the program’s website to ensure it is current, informative, and engaging.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the program, including digital marketing, social media, and other online platforms.
  • Create and manage content for social media, newsletters, and other communication channels to increase program visibility and engagement.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, social work, marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in job development, workforce development, or a related field, preferably working with at-risk youth or underserved populations.
  • In-depth knowledge of local labor market trends, employment practices, and workforce development strategies.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with employers, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering job readiness training and career counseling.
  • Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
  • Strong website management, marketing, and social media skills.
  • Unwavering commitment to the mission of Youth Over Us and a passion for empowering at-risk youth.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Working Conditions:

  • The Job Developer will work primarily in an office environment but will also be required to travel to meet with employers, attend community events, and participate in job fairs.
  • The work schedule may include occasional evening and weekend hours to accommodate program needs and employer availability.
    Salary:

The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from $40,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year.

YOU (Youth Over Us/YouthBuild) AmeriCorps Coordinator

Summary:

The YOU AmeriCorps Coordinator acts as the main contact for YouthBuild AmeriCorps participants. Responsibilities include managing YouthBuild AmeriCorps grant requirements supervising the enrollment, training, and program exit of participants. The coordinator ensures adherence to grant deliverables, organizes youth leadership initiatives, and manages community service-learning projects. The role demands attending required partner meetings and training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage in YouthBuild AmeriCorps training sessions.
  • Lead efforts in member recruitment and retention.
  • Handle data entry and participant enrollment.
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings.
  • Coordinate and execute AmeriCorps service hours, educational awards, orientation, and more.
  • Plan and supervise community service projects and events.
  • Foster leadership development and community engagement.
  • Serve as a mentor to YouthBuild participants.
  • Establish and uphold professional relationships with staff, participants, and stakeholders.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: While there are no direct reports to this position, the YB AmeriCorps Coordinator manages the day-to-day functions of the YB AmeriCorps program and offers guidance to participants when necessary.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate should be capable of efficiently executing all essential duties.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • 2-3 years of experience in youth-centered program development and implementation.
  • 3-5 years of experience in program or project management.

Language Skills:

  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business documents.
  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Capable of drafting reports, business letters, and procedural manuals.
  • Competence in presenting information and addressing queries from various groups including management, clients, and the public.
  • Physical Demands: The nature of the job involves demands typical of an office setting. However, provisions can be made to accommodate employees with disabilities.

SUMMARY: The YOU (Youth Over Us/YouthBuild) AmeriCorps Coordinator will be the primary point of for the YouthBuild AmeriCorps participants. The candidate will also perform a variety of duties related to adhering to the requirements of the YouthBuild AmeriCorps grant; supervise enrollment, training, and exiting of program participants. Will also ensure full compliance with grant deliverables, including, but not limited to, the facilitation of youth leadership and community service-learning components; scheduling, marketing, initiating background checks for participants; maintaining documentation; reporting; attending partner meetings and trainings as required.
